Declutter and Sell: What's Your Stuff Worth, and Where to Sell It

Decluttering only sticks when the "sell" pile actually leaves. The question under that pile is simple: what is this stuff worth, and which channel will take it before you lose your nerve and shove it back in the closet?
Start with a list of what you own. Then sort by value and effort. Hoardo is the list: rooms, numbered boxes, one photo per item, an asking price you type yourself. It is not a listing site.
What is my item worth?
Worth is what a similar thing sold for, in the same condition, in your area or on the same site. Asking prices on live listings are wishes.
A method that doesn't take the weekend:
- Condition. Working, complete, clean, and with the charger / lid / manual. Missing any of those, drop a band.
- Brand and age. A named slow cooker from last year is not a no-name one from 2009.
- Sold listings. For anything that might be over $40, search eBay sold (filter completed) or Marketplace recently sold if you can see it. Use the middle of the range, not the outlier.
- Channel. Garage sale money is driveway money: 10 to 30 percent of retail, cash, gone this Saturday. Marketplace money takes photos, messages and a porch pickup.

How much is my stuff worth, together?
Add it up from the list, not from a feeling in the garage. In Hoardo, put an asking price on each sell item (Settings › Show on items › Price if that row is hidden), then Export the room. The CSV has item, quantity and price. Sum the price column. That's your ceiling if everything sells at asking, which it won't. Plan on about half for a driveway sale, more if the good pieces go online.

Don't count keepers. A stand mixer you're taking to the new kitchen is not proceeds.

Declutter and sell, room by room
- One room. Three boxes in Hoardo: Keep, Donate, Garage sale.
- Every object goes in one of them. No staging pile.
- Photograph or voice-add the sell box. One photo per item.
- Price from the chart, or from sold listings if it might be worth a trip to Marketplace.
- Run the garage sale checklist or post the high-value pieces the same week.
- Donate leftovers on the way home from the sale. Don't let them re-enter the house.
