HomeZada Alternative That's Free: Hoardo vs HomeZada
Published · 5 min read
Looking for a HomeZada alternative that is only about where your stuff is, and that does not add a paid home-management suite on top?
Hoardo is a free app for rooms, numbered boxes, photos and QR labels. HomeZada is a digital home management system: inventory plus maintenance, projects and finances. Their FAQ (checked 8 October 2026) publishes a free Essential plan for inventory and news, and paid Premium and Deluxe plans.

What is HomeZada?
HomeZada calls itself a home management app. On homezada.com (checked 8 October 2026) it organises inventory, maintenance, projects and finances in one system. The home inventory page says you can document belongings and key home assets (appliances, HVAC, roof, and so on) for insurance, replacement costs, moving and estate planning.
What their FAQ says about price
From HomeZada's FAQ and pricing page:
- Essential is free. The FAQ says the free version covers Home Inventory and News.
- Premium is $99 per year or $15.95 per month
- Deluxe is $189 per year
- Deluxe can add more than three properties at $99 per year each
- You can invite family members for free
- You can export the inventory to a spreadsheet and save a zip of photos and documents
- You can print a household inventory PDF for an insurance agent
We did not find a public item cap on the free plan. We also did not find QR box labels on the inventory or FAQ pages.
What their site lists as inventory features
- Smart templates by room
- AI photo recognition that turns photos into inventory data
- Manuals, warranties and home documents
- Video of each room
- Value totals by room and category
- PDF reports for insurance
If you want a digital twin of the house (maintenance calendar, remodel budgets, equity), that is HomeZada's product. If you mainly pack boxes and need to find them later, you may not need the rest of the suite.
Meet Hoardo: the HomeZada alternative with no paid plan
Hoardo does one job: it remembers what you put in each box and which room that box lives in.
100% free (no paid plan)
No Essential vs Premium split. Rooms, boxes, items and users stay free. CSV export is included.
AI is included. You can also ask about your boxes from Claude or ChatGPT with the free Hoardo MCP server.
Numbered boxes and QR labels
Give every box a number, list what went in (type it, say it, or snap a photo) and print a QR label so the real carton matches the list. Point your phone camera at the label and the box opens.
Share by room
Invite people to a room. They see those boxes, not a whole property file unless you share more rooms.
What Hoardo does not do
Hoardo is not a maintenance calendar, a remodel budget or a home-finance ledger. It will not forecast when the water heater is due. It will tell you which numbered box the spare filter is in.
When to choose Hoardo over HomeZada
| If you… | Then choose… |
|---|---|
| Want inventory only, with no paid plan | Hoardo |
| Need numbered boxes and QR labels you print yourself | Hoardo |
| Want maintenance, projects and home finances in the same app | HomeZada |
| Need insurance PDFs, asset replacement years and a digital twin of the house | HomeZada |
| Want a free start for inventory and news, then a paid suite | HomeZada Essential, then Premium or Deluxe |
| Store things in boxes in a garage, attic or storage unit | Hoardo |
Organizing a home rather than a whole property file? Here's what to expect from an inventory management app for home.
Final verdict: Hoardo is the free HomeZada alternative for boxes
HomeZada is a full home-management platform. Inventory is one part of it, and the public FAQ puts a price on Premium and Deluxe. Hoardo is the HomeZada alternative that stays 100% free and sticks to rooms, numbered boxes, photos and QR labels.
If you want the suite, HomeZada publishes that clearly. If you want to find the tent without a maintenance calendar, Hoardo is the free one.
