Comic Book Collection App: Find Any Issue in Any Long Box
Published · 2 min read
A comic book collection app should tell you which long box holds Amazing Spider-Man #300 without lifting a single lid. Hoardo does that for free. Each long box, short box and shelf gets a number, each issue goes in as an item, and search shows the box it's in, along with every other issue from the same run.
Number your boxes first
Most collections already live in boxes, so start there:
- Write a number on every box. Long boxes, short boxes, magazine boxes.
- Add each box to Hoardo with that number and a name, like "#1 Long box: Spider-Man".
- Add shelves too. Trades and graphic novels usually sit on a shelf, not in a box.
- Keep a box for keys. Slabs and key issues in one place, with a place note like "Wardrobe, top shelf".
Add issues quickly
- Typing works well for runs: series name and number.
- Speech is faster when you flip through a box: "Amazing Spider-Man 298, 299, 301".
- Photo helps for a stack of trades: take a picture of the spines and Hoardo lists what it sees.
Use a category such as "Run" or "Key issue" to tell the everyday issues from the ones worth protecting.
Find any issue in any box
Search covers every box at once. Type "Spider-Man" and you see every issue across your long boxes, the keys box and the pile still to bag, each with the box it's in.
QR labels for the long boxes
Print a QR label for each box and stick it on the short end. Point a phone camera at it and Hoardo opens the box, so you can see what's inside without unstacking anything.
What Hoardo isn't
Hoardo isn't a price guide and doesn't look up covers, grades or barcodes. It's a quick, searchable record of what you own and which box it's in.
Free for every long box
Hoardo is free for all your boxes and items. There's no billing and no paid tier. Collecting records too? See the vinyl record collection app guide.
